こんにちは。天体ショーは皆さんご覧になられましたか？スカイツリーの開業に金環日食と空を見上げる日々が続きますね。

そんな空を見ながら、これからの繁忙期を前に一服一休みを。
さて、ちょっと前のお話しになりますが、とある機会がありまして、外国人の方々にお茶を差し上げてまいりました。

最初にお菓子をお勧めしましたが、皆さん、和菓子の鮮やかさに「oh！」

ちなみに当日のお菓子です。このときは2月でしたので、2月から3月にかけての花や野山をイメージしたものでした。
お菓子を召し上がってもらった後にお抹茶です。抹茶を飲まれたあとの反応は様々でした。
おいしいという満面の笑みの方もいれば、苦かったのか、正座のつらさもあり、文字通り苦笑いの方もいらっしゃいました。

実は、このとある機会、弊社で年に二回ほど熱海の研修所で外国人の方々を対象に開講している造園セミナーでの日本文化紹介の時間でございました。私自身、英語はそんな堪能ではないのですが、身振り手振りで参加者の皆様方にお茶を召し上がってもらっております。

次回の造園セミナーは2013年冬開催予定！お抹茶とともに皆さんお待ちしております！

Hello.
We hold a small tea ceremony where we served the quests “Matcha,” green powder tea.
Initially Japanese cakes were served and guests were surprised at its vividness.
These are the Japanese cakes which were served on that day.
As it was in February, designs and colors reminiscent of the flowers and hills were used.
Followed by Japanese cakes, Matcha was served and the reaction of the quests was favorable.
While some had a big smile on one’s face saying it was tasty, some had a bitter smile as it tastes.

In fact this tea ceremony as an introduction of Japanese culture at the Japanese Garden Seminar which has been held twice a year for foreign participants.

Though I’m not very good at English, I have tried to explain with gesture to help the guests understand how to drink Matcha.

The seminar is scheduled to be held in spring in 2013 and we look forward your participation and holding tea ceremony and serve Matcha for you!
