We pray for all who suffered from the earthquake on March 11th.
Disastrous reports coming in every day, and our colleagues worry about relatives live in or near the epicenter.
At least, all of our colleagues are safe. Also, our main office building in Tokyo and seminary facility in Atami suffer a few or no damages from the earthquake. We still have temporary stops of public transportation system and lifelines in and out of Tokyo, hopefully these problems will be solved near future. We thank for all people who worried for us.
Miura Baien, a philosopher in Edo era, said “Surprise for flowering on trees, not for deadwood”. Seasonable flowering is much more precious than those unseasonable ones. We really agree his thoughts that ubiquitous life of ours must be valued than an unusual event.
The main idea of Japanese gardening technique, as you may be aware, is live with nature side by side, not overcome it.
For now, everyone in our company does anything to help and support recovering Japan.

去る3月11日の地震において、被災された皆様に心よりお見舞い申し上げます。
日が経つにつれ、被害の甚大さが現実的に報告され、弊社でも実家や友人などがいる者は、安否の連絡を待ち望む状況で過ごす日々です。
弊社の熱海研修所及び東京の被災状況は震源地近くに比べて少なく、ありがたい事に社員も建物もみな無事でした。地震後、東京周辺は交通機関の機能やライフラインに一時的な制限が出ている程度で済んでいます。
ご心配頂いた方々ありがとうございます。
江戸時代の哲学者 三浦梅園は「枯木に花咲くに驚くより、生木に花咲くに驚け」という言葉を残しています。季節はずれに咲く花に驚くよりも、時期がきたら花が咲いたり、季節が移り行くという、私たちが生活する日々の普遍性としている事こそ驚くべきことであると本当に感じました。
日本の庭園技術や剪定技術を想像して頂ければ察せられますが、日本は自然を制するのではなく、ともに共進してきた国です。
今回の被害から新たな普遍性にリデザインされた日本が再興するように願って、まずは、個々人で協力できる支援を行なっていきたいと思います。
